Things to Consider When Looking for your Perfect Holiday Home Location

Sometimes daily life can be a bit of a chore, so time to recharge is invaluable. Holidays feed the soul.

It’s all about finding a destination to fully enjoy the company of your loved ones; somewhere to relax and meet new friends. Not to mention a place to experience plenty of fun activities and incredible views too.

Perfect, especially when it’s all there for you waiting for you whenever you need a pick me up.

So, why not make getaways a more regular thing? A spontaneous week in Wales, or quick trip to Cornwall can be more than just a wish… we can help you make it happen with your very own holiday home and the flexibility that comes with it! Now you need to decide where.

Liskey Hill

Here’s our guide to help you choose the right holiday location for many happy years to come.

Distance / Travel

You’ll want to find the right balance between travelling far enough so it feels like you’re on holiday, but not too far that it’s an effort getting to your super new caravan. Some people may be up for more of a commute than others, so this really comes down to what you find reasonable. If you solely use public transport then ensure you research accessibility and routes at length before committing… nobody wants their trip to take longer than their actual stay. Google maps is great for figuring out ways to travel, it will outline the train you need to take, even the bus stops you need to use. Going to be driving? You’ll have a little more freedom. For example, if you’re in Plymouth, then your journey to Liskey Hill would only take just over an hour! Shropshire local? Head to Ocean Heights in couple of hours or so. And how about family and friends? Is the park you’re considering easily accessible for them too? Vale Holiday Parks is family orientated (it’s family run after all!) so we encourage you to invite your family and friends to utilise your caravan too. Or, you can keep it your little secret hideaway - that’s fine too!

Cost

The cost of your caravan purchase will depend on many factors and the different needs you have, however, some costs are standard. Site fees being one of them. They vary from park to park, but start from around £2,450 per year and always include VAT, water and sewerage rates, Owner’s Advantage membership and access to all the facilities of any of our parks. If you’d like to know more about this you can contact us here. Then, there’s the obvious cost of the caravan. We have a varying selection of new and pre-used caravans, suitable for a wide range of budgets. From starter caravans providing your very own cosy getaway space, to the luxurious end of the caravan spectrum, we’ve got it.

Activities/Entertainment

Keeping the whole family happy on holiday can be a tough task, that’s why looking into the local activities and attractions at and near your chosen location is paramount. Fancy your holidays at Ocean Heights Leisure Park? You’ll find the following waiting there for you:

  • Ocean Heights Country Club (eat in / take away)
  • Amusement arcade
  • Children’s outdoor play area
  • Pool table
  • Outdoor sports court
  • Evening entertainment (peak season)
  • Indoor and outdoor heated swimming pool

…and more!

Child Friendly

We pride ourselves on being family friendly. That’s why we make sure that all visitors regardless of age will have a great time during their stay. From outdoor play areas to entertainment for your little ones, our parks are the perfect place to invest for your kid’s future.

Pets Welcome

Speaking of family members, we don’t want to leave out your precious pooches either, they are more than welcome! All we ask is that all pet owners act responsibly to make sure other owners and guests are not disturbed, and that dogs must be kept on a lead at all times when outside of the caravan. Want to know how to plan a pet friendly trip?
